FMP Update

In lieu of a new FMP download release this week, we are instead bringing you news of what’s to come, as well as a reminder of one of the first D:O Store items, Touch the Earth, a superb trio of Wadada Leo Smith, Gunter “Baby” Sommer, and Peter Kowald. Perhaps you missed it when we first went live? It’s a tremendous document of sympathetic playing.

Next week will see the arrival of an outstanding album that’s only been available on LP: The ICP Tentet In Berlin. Follow the link to check this amazing line-up. Crackle box and bagpipes!

The following week we’ll be bringing you the unreal and unbound piano stylings of Keith Tippett, a two-fer that compiles the solo LPs Mujician I and Mujician II. Have a cushion on your desk to catch your jaw when it drops.

After that, the queue includes a number of amazing duos: We Play, featuring Günter Christmann (trombone) and Detlef  Schönenberg (drums); ...Jetzt Geht Kloß!, by Ulrich Gumpert (piano) and Günter “Baby” Sommer; and No Gossip, with Tippett and Louis Moholo. These are all LP only releases that are making their digital premieres!

And there’s more on the horizon: If you think we’re sleeping on some classics that need to be reissued, drop us a note in the comments. Due to various issues we do not have access to the entire FMP catalog, but we will to our best to follow up on requests. Jost Gebers, head of FMP, has been quite responsive.

We hope you’ll consider making a purchase. The money goes directly to the musicians and the site. Most importantly, it allows us to continue reissuing these rare albums. We appreciate your patronage.
